いい気分だわ!

Once Upon a Time…

…is the feeling you get when reading Meteor Prince, an out-of-this-world, in-the-stars, Cinderella story about a handsome alien coming to earth and announcing his destined partner is none other than shy, high school girl, Hako Natsuno.

Hako is known as the “Queen of Bad Luck” since strange accident always occur whenever she’s around, and it’s this bad luck that makes people stay away from her. Enter in her knight in shining armor, Io Jesse Yupita, from the Kingdom of Yupita, who comes crashing (literally) into Hako’s life. Like a magic spell, Hako’s luck seems to have suddenly turned upside down, but can it really be true? According to Io, they are destined partners matched by the universe through their unique, identical wave lengths. As such, according to the laws of Yupita, both of them are to copulate and she is to bear his child. Though his proclamation embarrasses and surprises her, Hako tells him that they need to fall in love first before they can make a child together. Io agrees to woo her using human customs in order to gain his “soul mate”, and the two begin their journey down the road to love, but with rivals and hurdles that keep crash-landing in their way, will Io and Hako find out what true love is before it’s too late?

This story is one of Meca Tanaka’s greatest works only second to Faster Than A Kiss, another romantic comedy about a student and a teacher marrying to save her family before they meteor-prince-imageeven kiss or fall in love. Meteor Prince is a dazzling story with spellbound doki-doki moments that will keep you coming back and begging for more. The characters are just as quirky as one would expect from Tanaka, and the plot quickly thickens with the arrival of Io’s younger brother, the second prince of Yupita, and Tania, Io’s intended mate. Hako’s development also keeps you rooting for her as she discovers love along with Io and they come to realize that destiny can be changed. With friends in an Occult Research Club, an alien for a fiancé, and an intended marriage that’s out-of-this-world, what’s not to like? This is truly a story of a match made in the stars!
